Another (small) Note on Pronunciation

I've started listening to a few podcasts and one thing is bugging me. Okay, picture time:

This is Calvary:

And this is Cavalry:

Notice the position of the "L" when pronouncing this word.

  1. My National Guard unit is a Cav unit. About a year ago, one of the guys came back from Basic Training with a tattoo on his forearm that bore the abbreviation 'Calv.'

At first when we told him that we are the Cavalry, not the Calvary, he flatly refused to believe it. Then, when faced with documented proof, he claimed that it had been a big joke among his Basic Training platoon to call it the Calv instead of the Cav. Poor guy.

The only thing that bugs me more is when people call a Rogue a Rouge. It happens all the time in World of Warcraft, and I think 75% of the internet call Rogue Trader by the name Rouge Trader, which seems to me like it would be some sort of cosmetic marketing game.

I dunno, I think Rouge Trader could be a pretty awesome game. Assuming you still can get Bolt Pistols and Chainswords, I mean.

  3. That's so true on the Rouge/rogue thing. And Angels/angles. I may just make this a regular feature.
